Checklist 01

Family checklist by Zavialov Ilia Nikolaevich

The most effective protection inside a family is not configured on a phone. It is a handful of agreements settled in advance and out loud, because at the necessary moment the person will be alone and under pressure.

English version for the United States.

What to settle with the family, in order

This page is laid out for printing: only this order of actions reaches the printer.

  1. One name and one numberAgree who in the family is called about any money conversation. The number is written on paper and kept next to the phone.
  2. The pause ruleNo decision about money is taken during an inbound call. The conversation ends first, and only then your person is called.
  3. Money is never handed to peopleNot to a courier, not to an officer, not to a friend of a friend. In no situation, whatever the explanation.
  4. A request in a chat is confirmed by voiceEven from a close friend and even if they reply in the same conversation.
  5. No codes read aloudA code from a message is never given to anybody, including people who introduce themselves as the bank, the police or a relative.
  6. No programs installed on requestNothing is installed on the phone because a caller asked.
  7. What to do if it already happenedCall your person immediately, without working it out and without embarrassment. Shame costs more than money only in the first half hour.

Why an agreement beats a setting

An older person is not called in order to break into their phone. They are called so that they withdraw the money themselves and hand it to a courier. No setting stops that.

What stops it is a rule agreed beforehand: in this family money is handed to nobody and transferred nowhere until a specific person has been reached on a specific number.

The conversation with a teenager runs differently

A teenager is deceived through advantage and through trust in a familiar account rather than through fear. A request for money arrives from a friend whose account was taken, and it looks entirely ordinary.

The agreement has the same shape and different content: any request for money in a chat is confirmed by voice, even when it comes from a best friend.

Questions and answers

How do I start this conversation with older parents?
Not with a warning but with an agreement: appoint yourself the person who is called about any question involving money, and write the number down on paper.
What if a relative has already transferred money?
Call the bank immediately on the number printed on the card and block the account, then record the time, the number and the wording. The analysis comes later.
